I’m Pregnant – What Do I Do Now?

First of all, congratulations! You’re on your way to becoming a parent. But before we get ahead of ourselves, what do we have to do between now and when the baby arrives? Well, there’s plenty that you can do and to make it easier to digest, let’s start off with the very first things to consider.

I'm Pregnant!

When to tell – varying cultural backgrounds will have different stigmas when it comes to telling other people you are pregnant. Some need not to consider, while others may opt to wait until after the first 13 weeks when they enter the so-called “honeymoon period” of the second trimester.

Apart from trusted family and friends, depending on your work nature, you may need to inform your boss and/or colleagues so they can make necessary arrangements and also make it easier to plan ahead for when you need to take maternity leave.

Talk with your partner if, and how you want to let others know your big news. Pregnancy announcements come in various shapes and forms. Whether you go for something conventional or more creative, the decision is yours!

Where to go for check-ups – when you are pregnant, obviously you will be paying more visits to the medical clinics, health centers and doctors room more often. Do your research and ask family and friends if they have obstetrician and midwife referrals.

When is the baby due – this is very important. Once you have worked this out, you can track your baby’s growth progress while she is in your tummy. You will also know when to do various check-ups and tests once the due date is confirmed and finalized.

The next step is to sit back, relax but also enjoy your pregnancy. After all, the baby stays inside you for only around 40 weeks. During this time, your body will develop many changes, both physically and emotionally. Track your progress throughout different stages of pregnancy with our Keepsake Books that lets you post ultrasound images, bump photos and somewhere to store your home pregnancy test.
